It is time. What time is that you ask? Time for us, the Baristi to step up our game. After a long night of corrected espresso in the back room of barefoot we had a vision to do just that, a vision of a formal Barista exchange program. Simply stated one day out of the month, every cafe will trade one Barista.
The benefits to both café owners and barista are obvious, you will get a barista who will bring in new styles and skills, customers from outside your market will hear of your café, plus nothing can reinvigorate a barista like change for a day.
The details of the plan are simple, cafes will be responsible for paying their own employees for the six hours of work while they are at their host café (so we all can get paid without too much paperwork) past that, just get the barista there the right day and your done. In order to keep things fair, Barista-Exchange.org will deal with setting up a system so every café gets a partner each month.
The goal is to get our little coffee world to be the best out there, lets all learn from each other and see how far we can raise the bar.
